KIKK IPA 2019, my first beer collaborated with RISE & WIN Brewing Co. in 2019, is now being released as the third brew due to popular demand. This time we updated its recipe, in order to enhance bitterness and citrus touch wrapped up with tropical aroma, which will remind you of old school West Coast IPA we all love! ABV 7.0% IBU 71 Hops: Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, Citra, Azacca and Sorachi Ace Yeast: Imperial

2021のラベルのデザイン＆カラーは山吹色とも言うべきこのような感じになりました。Hazy Session IPA という軽めのスタイルながら、しっかりとした飲みごたえがあり、かつ濃いめの液色ということもありこのカラーがピッタリだと思います。

今回は一連の KIKK IPA のラベルデザインを担当しているデザイナー、山下ヤスノブさんのコメントをお送りします。

「2020がホップのグリーンをベースにしていたので、植物界にある色の距離感（土の茶と花の赤など）を参考にして，消去法でおおまかな着地エリアを決めました。

彩度を抑えた2019に近い世界観も考えましたが，そうすると19と20の間の振り子運動になってしまい新商品の躍動感が失われる。それよりはまだ使っていない暖色系で彩度を保ち、陰影を持たせた方が新商品としてのインパクトがあると思いました。

3シリーズのラベルがカバーする色域が多くなり過ぎないよう注意して、結果として2021は軽快な明るさに，わずかに混ぜた藍色インクの濁りが同居する奥行きのある色になったと思います。シリーズの3本目としても，2021は少しズレた閉じない三角形のような位置におさまり、楽しいシリーズになったと思います。」 Today we make it official - this is the label design & color of our KIKK IPA 2021. Although hazy session IPA, its beer style, is categorized as a lighter style, the 2021 has solid mouthfeel as well as its color is darker than usual session IPAs. This is why we chose this color.

Here are some comments from the KIKK IPA label designer, Yasunobu Yamashita.

“Since the 2020’s label color was based on green of hops, this one was chosen between some nature scenes, looking at colors of plants especially, such as brown of soil and red of flowers.
Initially I was thinking about a similar color to the 2019 one which was not so light, but it would have lacked a refreshing feel as it could be obscure between the 2019 and the 2020. Then I thought it would be more impactful if it has warmth and brightness which lead to a contrast as a new product.
Paying a close watch not to have too much merge of the three colors of all KIKK IPAs’ labels, it’s finally become the color with lightness and depth at the same time, by adding a little bit of turbidity of navy ink. As the third one of the series, this 2021 one becomes like one of the corners of an unfinished triangle, and it’s interesting, I guess.”
